Matters which have to be published or matters where the subject of the personal information has to be placed in a position where he or she can readily find out about them in accordance with the Law relating to Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter, the legislation) are shown below (Definitions of terminology etc are the same as for the Sony Group Privacy Policy).

1. The purposes of use of personal information handled by the Company (see article 18(1) of the legislation) are:

(1) Purposes of use in (a) to (d) below relating to optical disk drive products

  • (a) Sale of products and provision of services (including technical licenses)
  • (b) Advertising, publicity, sales promotion activity (providing information about products and services, exhibition and events by e-mail or direct mail etc)
  • (c) Product warranty, repair etc, provision of customer support (including registration, individual certification and help desk)
  • (d) Preparation of statistical materials for future product development and sales activity.

(2) Notification of matters communicated to stakeholders such as business partners and subcontractors, and sending of materials
*Notification of the purposes of use of information of employment applicants and company employees shall be given separately or published.

Please be aware that where the Company has, when collecting individual personal information, expressly indicated individual purposes of use etc and either notified the subject of the personal information or obtained his or her consent, the purposes of use which have been expressly indicated shall apply.

2. Matters relating to retained personal data of employment applicants (see article 24(1) of the legislation) Matters relating to personal data of employment applicants which is handled by the Company are:

Questions about notification of purposes of use of personal data retained by the Company (article 24(2) of the legislation), disclosure (article 25(1) of the legislation), correction etc (article 26(1) of the legislation), suspension of use etc (article 27(1) of the legislation) and suspension of provision to a third party (article 27(2) of the legislation) (hereinafter, “Request for disclosure etc”) should be directed to the following addresses:

(4) Address for complaints and comments set up by the Company in relation to handling of retained personal data of employment applicants Complaints and comments should be directed to the addresses in (3) above set up by the Company in relation to handling of retained personal data of employment applicants.

3. Opt-out system relating to provision of personal information to a third party (see article 23(2) of the legislation)

Article 23(2) provides that the personal data of the individual concerned can be provided to a third party where provision to a third party of personal data which identifies the individual concerned is to cease upon the request of the individual concerned and where the individual concerned is given certain information in advance or placed in a position where he or she can readily learn certain information (the opt-out system).

The Company shall not, using the opt-out system, provide personal information to a third party without your acknowledgment.

4. Remarks

Where the Company has separately established purposes of use etc by notice to the individual or by a utilization agreement, those separate purposes of use take precedence over what is stated above.
